Brazil Fails to Qualify for Olympic Football Tournament in Paris

Argentina Defeats Regional Rival in Qualifiers

Defending Champions Out of Contention

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - Brazil will not defend its Olympic men's soccer title in Paris after losing 1-0 to its regional rival Argentina on Sunday. The defeat in the qualifiers ends Brazil's hopes of launching a bid for a third straight title.

Despite dominating the possession and creating numerous chances throughout the match, Brazil failed to find the back of the net. Argentina, on the other hand, capitalized on a rare opportunity in the second half to score the winning goal and secure a berth in the Paris Olympics.

This marks the first time since 1988 that Brazil will not compete in the men's Olympic football tournament. The loss to Argentina leaves Brazil out of contention for a medal and leaves a void in the tournament that will be keenly felt by fans around the world.
