Brian Wilson, Co-Founder of The Beach Boys, Declared Incapacitated
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gus T. May Makes Ruling
Wilson, 81, Diagnosed with Alzheimer's-Related Dementia
Brian Douglas Wilson, the co-founder and legendary leader of the Beach Boys, has been declared incapacitated by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge. The ruling, made by Judge Gus T. May, comes after Wilson was diagnosed with Alzheimer's-related dementia.
The case was brought by Wilson's former manager, Lou Adler, who sought to be appointed as Wilson's conservator. Adler argued that Wilson was unable to manage his own affairs and needed protection from exploitation.
Wilson's attorney, John Muir, objected to the request for a conservatorship, arguing that Wilson was still capable of making his own decisions. However, Judge May ultimately ruled that Wilson was incapacitated and appointed a temporary conservator to manage his affairs.
